Chelsea FC vs Fulham FC Recap

Chelsea came into this game losing to Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Carabao Cup. Showing that there is still lots to be done in order to be the Chelsea of old. With Chelsea coming into this game in 10th place, they looked to gain three points against 13th place Fulham. Chelsea started this game off creating chances and putting up in on goal. Cole Palmer scores from the penalty spot in extra time of the first half. With this win Chelsea moves to 9th place in the Premier League.

When looking at Chelsea over the past couple of months, I have noticed a bunch of problems. Firstly discipline, Chelsea’s discipline has been nonexistant. When watching this match against Fulham Chelsea gave away 5 yellow cards, look scares when being counter attacked, and couldn’t score while taking 17 shots. Secondly, injuries have riddled Chelsea’s locker room with Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and Ben Chilwell being out for double digit matches missed. With more than 8 other first team players also missing a substantial amount of matches.

Even though Chelsea escaped this match against Fulham with the win they continue to struggle with allowing the opposition to counter attack and give up to many shots. Fulham had 14 shots with 4 on target which kept Chelsea on their toes in the second half.

It will be interesting to see what Pochettino does tactically and formationally as Chelsea goes into a 10 day off period with there next match against Middlesbrough in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals.
